Install
The desktop app on the computer the work should run on, one approval in your browser, and your own subscription for Claude Code or Codex.
The desktop app
Download PogCode for macOS, Windows or Linux and open it. Choose your server, press Connect, and it installs the daemon on this computer and opens your browser to approve it. Nothing asks for administrator rights.
- A computer where the work should run. Your files, provider logins and state stay on it.
- A Claude or ChatGPT subscription, or API keys, for the agents you want to run. PogCode does not sell model usage.
- Git, if your projects use it.
From the command line
For a server, or a computer without a desktop. On macOS or Linux, the installer checks the
signed release, installs the versioned pogcode command for your user, writes its
trusted defaults, and opens your browser to approve the computer. A self-hosted server shows its
own installer address on its Setup screen.
curl -fsSL https://downloads.pogcode.com/daemon/install.sh | sh
On a computer without a browser, add --no-open. The installer prints a short-lived
approval link and code; open the link from any device where you are signed in, approve the
computer, and leave the installer running until it reports success. It never receives your
password or a reusable account token.
curl -fsSL https://downloads.pogcode.com/daemon/install.sh | sh -s -- --no-open
Linux needs curl, jq and an OpenSSL that can verify Ed25519 signatures;
the installer refuses musl builds. The daemon itself is one GNU libc binary with no desktop and
no runtime. Standalone daemon builds also run on Windows without the desktop app: use
.\pogcode.exe from PowerShell with the same commands, after configure
with the server address, release index and public signing key from your release publisher.
The service
The daemon runs as a per-user service that starts when you log in: a LaunchAgent on macOS, a
systemd user service on Linux, a Task Scheduler task on Windows. It updates itself from signed
releases and rolls back if a new version does not start. To run it under your own supervisor
instead, connect with --no-service and start it in the foreground from there; a
foreground daemon never replaces its own executable.
pogcode connect --no-service --no-open --project "$PWD"
pogcode daemon run
On Linux, service enable-boot lets the service start at boot without a login, by
enabling the user's linger; service status shows the result.
Where it keeps its state
Everything the daemon keeps lives in one folder per user:
~/Library/Application Support/pogcode on macOS,
${XDG_DATA_HOME:-~/.local/share}/pogcode on Linux, or
%LOCALAPPDATA%\pogcode on Windows. Pass --state-root to every command to
use another folder.
Agents and projects
Install the agents you want to run on this computer and add a project folder. Claude Code and Codex sign in with your own subscription on this computer; PogCode never sees those credentials.
pogcode agents list
pogcode agents install <agent-id>
pogcode connect --project "$PWD"
Status, logs and repair
status shows enrollment and whether the service runs, logs reads the
service output, and doctor checks the local identity, the running daemon, the server
and the enrollment. Add --json when another tool reads the result.
